In Germany, Sunday is a government and culturally mandated day of rest. Regardless of what errands you may have, Sonntag Ruhezeiten says you need to keep it chill. With only a nagging hangover or the week ahead to ponder, we thought you might appreciate some music picks to get you through the week. Inspired by his Sunday malaise and altruistic nature, Ben Sharoni is pleased to present: Sunday Edition.

The Midnight Hour – Harmony

If you have listened to the first album of Ali Shaheed Muhammad’s and Adrian Younge’s The Midnight Hour, you’ll likely be as ecstatic as I am to hear that a new one is on the way. They announced it with the new single, “Harmony,” which starts with a tranquil baseline that sets the tone for a quiet soul piece. But just as you forfeit yourself to it, it changes. You’re being thrown into a Flylo-eqsue soundscape, that Muhammad described as “a song for those that have felt a special spark of love” – it sure sounds like it.

Max Cooper – Aleph 2

Max Cooper’s Aleph 2 was released at the end of October. It is a first-peek into a new album / visual project called Yearning for the Infinite, coming on November 7th. Cooper, who integrates electronic music, visual arts, technology, and science, is known for going the extra mile for all of his art. On the Aleph 2 video project, he uses the help of Martin Krzywinski – a data-artist and bioinformatician – to create an astounding video to accompany his music.

Poliça – trash in bed

Poliça is back with two new singles from their upcoming album When We Stay Alive, due this January on Memphis Industries. It will arrive almost a year after their collaboration with s t a r g a z e that produced the brilliant “Music for the Long Emergency”. While working on the album, Channy Leaneagh fell off her roof clearing ice. So half of this album can be considered as a sort of therapy. But don’t be mistaken, this album “is about the redemptive power of rewriting your story in order to heal, and reclaiming your identity as a result.”
