In Germany, Sunday is a government and culturally mandated day of rest. Regardless of what errands you may have, Sonntag Ruhezeiten says you need to keep it chill. With only a nagging hangover or the week ahead to ponder, we thought you might appreciate some music picks to get you through the week. Inspired by his Sunday malaise and altruistic nature, Ben Sharoni is pleased to present the first installment of the Sunday Edition.

Vanishing Twin – Magician’s Success

Vanishing Twin is an assemblage representing pluralism. The now England-based members have come from Belgium, France, Japan, Italy, and America to establish new lives in the UK. Their latest album, The Age Of Immunology, which was just released on Fire Records, is associated with A. David Napier’s book by the same name. While Napier, in his book, sets out to criticize society’s most basic values, Vanishing Twin offers us an ode to how a pluralist utopia might sound.

Skinny Pelembe – I’ll Be On Your Mind

After his first EP on Brownswood Recordings, Skinny Pelembe finally released his debut album, Dreaming is Dead Now. The South Africa-born artist  immigrated to the UK as a child and in this album he experiments with psychedelia and soul in order to bring together memories, feelings, and observations from this move. A peculiar decision, in my opinion, was to include Spit/Swallow – a track from the last EP – in this album. It is an upbeat track that does not necessarily fit within the album’s gloomy atmosphere.

Peggy Gou – Hungboo

The Berlin-Based Korean musician has shared a couple of tracks from her upcoming DJ-Kicks mix. In it you may find Pert, Cassette Jam 1993, and Hungboo, her first ever track. While the entire DJ-Kicks mix – with tracks from Aphex Twin, Pearson Sound and more –  will be released in June 28th, this short release offers a glimpse into her influences and creation.

Daphni – Sizzling

Dan Snaith shares a new single under the Daphni moniker. You might better know him as Caribou or Manitoba, but this is his first release since 2017 as Daphni. This track is a remix of Sizzlin Hot by Paradise, and it contains a few more samples you might recognize. The EP, Sizzling, will include three more songs, making it a four tracks listen. If you liked it I have to warn you that there’s a catch, the EP will be released only on December 31sh of (are you sitting down?) 2021.
