Zu are back with the original line up to celebrate the 10th anniversary of CARBONIFEROUS!
Stubbornly free from genre classification, Italian trio Zu have been proud to follow their own musical pathways for some twenty years now.
Zu have been broadly questioning and evolving their musical identity, developing their musical vocabulary with every release and collaboration, never allowing their personal and creative freedom to be suffocated by imposed structures and labels. All of their strongest inspirations and artistic reference points have produced a very varied output, evolving (sonically speaking) from one album to another in their respective musical canon. Zu ‘s musical language has changed a lot over the years, yet the essence very much remains the same.
Throughout their highly diverse career the band has cultivated the art of collaboration, joining forces with luminaries such as Mike Patton, Damo Suzuki, Mats Gustafsson, King Buzzo of the Melvins, David Tibet, FM Einheit of Einstuerzende Neubauten Jessica Moss of Thee Silver Mt Zion, Thurston Moore, Jim O’ Rourke, Mats Gustafsson, Eugene Robinson of Oxbow, Gabe Serbian of The Locust , just to name a few, but also collaborating with director Romeo Castellucci of legendary avant-garde theatre company Societas Raffaello Sanzio.
15 releases , more than 2000 concerts, and ongoing.
Wolves and Vibrancy Recordings
Hypnodrone Ensemble was formed in Berlin in 2014 by the Canadian experimental/ambient guitars Aidan Baker (also of Nadja) and Eric Quach (aka Thisquietarmy), along with the drummers David Dunnett, Jérémie Mortier (also of Alice In The Cities, Nearest Gas Station), and Felipe Salazar (also of Caudal). A quintet at its core, though occasionally expanding or changing members, the group creates free-form, semi-improvisational studies in rhythmic, psychedelic, atmospheric spacerock. Hypnodrone Ensemble released its self-titled debut, a live recording from NK in Berlin, on Consouling Sounds in 2014 and followed that up with the studio album, The Shape of Space, released on Calostro Recordings and Little Crack’d Rabbit Records in 2015. Following an expanded line-up performance in 2016 in Berlin, the group returned to the studio in 2017 to record Orchestral Favourites as a 9-piece group, with Simon Goff (also Molecular, Bee And Flower) on violin, Duchamp on baritone guitar, Felix-Florian Tödtloff (ex-Sun Worship) on bass, and Diego Ferri on synths.
EUROPEAN SPORTS CAR
ESC are Louis Rastig on analogue synth and Marcel Drescher on drums. Drescher & Rastig connect a long-time collaboration in Berlin since the early 2000s. Together, they are EUROPEAN SPORTS CAR reflecting the recent stream of consciousness — of things. Get ready for some neo-romantic walls of sound: lyrical drones and industrial noise with progressive rock tendencies for analogue synths and battery.
