Life in a capital city can feel at times anonymous. In 2017, a chance online meeting brought together two musicians with a penchant for analogue synthesizers, goth-pop and allout bombast. The pair’s output as Szalazar takes this rich history and propels it forward, through a marriage of uncompromising production and winding imagery. They hit hard, they shimmer. They’re swimming in layers – but never hiding beneath them.
For their EP release show, Szalazar invite close friends and collaborators Unveiled Vibes, Scar Polish and Hanzel to celebrate their return to the live circuit with their first-ever release ‘Grace’, live at Berlin’s ACUD MACHT NEU.
When: Friday 12th July 2019, 9PM
Where: ACUD MACHT NEU, Veteranenstraße 21, Berlin, Germany

Szalazar is the project of Berlin-based duo Francisco Gonçalves Silva and Robert Paul Gardner. Their sound inhabits a dark yet dreamy corner of synth-pop, combining harsh, uncompromising production with winding imagery and their own unique sense of theatre. Since their formation in 2017, the pair have explored a mutual love for analogue-driven synthwave and the goth aesthetic, finally arriving upon their debut EP, Grace, out July 12th.
UV is a duo project based in Berlin embodying sensorial abstractions under a spectrum of retro-industrial frequencies.
Berlin-based Scar Polish, moniker to British-born Robin Fisher, is the final product of a transition phase. Taking an indie rock upbringing and switching things up with the inclusion of deranged electronics, Scar Polish takes a new musical leap into dream psychedelia, gritty sampling and ethereal soundscapes, yet keeping it playful, personal, lo-fi to its fullest and, most importantly, doing DIY justice.
