Back in 2017 the then 19 year old british singer songwriter Mahalia already had an impressive repertoire. In 2012 her first ever release came out – the yearning guitarbased ballad „ Headspace“ many more songs followed and most oft hem were combined in the ep „Diary Of Me“ from 2016. Writing songs has always been a natural thing for her. Her first songs date back to when she was 8. She signed a record deal when she was 13. But the career, the attention and the pressure were too much. Mahalia decided to move back to her hometown Leicester, recorded „Sober“ sang the song in a almost legendary COLORS session, that went viral and chose her own tempo. Since then she played tons of shows, is more thrilling then ever. Released the empowerment duett „Proud Of Me“ with Little Simz and is now on the brink of releasing her debut album.
In September „Love And Compromise“ will be released which pays a big hommage to Eartha Kitt. According to Mahalia she was hugely inspired by by Billie Eilish and Jill Scotts „Woman“. But in the end her voice makes it a truely own with smooth soul songs like „Grateful“ or defiant pop songs like „I Wished I Missed My Ex“ and live you’ll be blown away by her charisma. So just see her now, won’t you?
