Your favourite concert series for up-and-coming rock and roll is back and this time at Urban Spree! We’re starting the year off with the sort of noise and madness you should have come to expect from Basement Bash. Come get a dose of the best medicine for Berlin winter blues on Friday January 18th!
Headliner: Black Pope
Support: Soda Can + Joe James Boyle
Black Pope is a rock’n’roll demon child with a taste for all things dark and mysterious. Fueled on the camp energy of the fifties with a sick twist, Black Pope is sure to shake your body and brains until you’re the one asking all the questions.
From the gritty streets of Buenos Aires, Argentina to the cold alleys of Berlin, Soda Can is an ensemble of misfits trying to soothe your ears with loud guitars, fast hooks and sarcastic lyrics about facing your fears. Prepare for a serving of bittersweet sounds influenced by The Stooges and Led Zeppelin, wrapped in a glamorous coat of gender-bending sex appeal.
Joe James Boyle
London-born/Berlin-based Joe James Boyle makes music inspired by the free spirit psych rock of Jimi Hendrix and Ty Segal but with a unique and loose vocal delivery that recalls Alan Vega. JJB’s songs have their own distinct and sometimes surreal literary world in which individuals and outsiders try to make sense of what is happening around them, all amidst a wild rock n roll soundtrack
