N&N is turning XXX today and you know what that means… it’s gonna get nasty. Thanks for hanging with us for so long, we’ll keep the good times and tracks rolling.

If you’re in Berlin tomorrow, April 5th, come down to arkaoda and shake ya tailfeather with us to celebrate the bizarre fact that our magazine has been in print for one whole year! Check out the event here.

Fritz Myers

United States

Intensity right from the get-go with staccato plucking and dissonant drones. A heat and passion that does not cease until the movement is finished.

The Great Dictators

Denmark

We can only assume that The Great Dictators named themselves after the 1940 Charlie Chaplin film and that’s ok by us. The grinding and whirring of background clatter is the perfect/natural background for the vocal stylings of Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart.

TARA

United States

Dones and vocals that create the perfect dreamscape of floating through the cherry blossoms and into spring. TARA was clearly daydreaming in their class taught by Cocteau Twins while passing notes Seefeel.

Summer Paradox

Canada

Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream. Let the waves of texture wash over you and the subtle builds bring you to new plateaus and valleys. FFO William Basinski, Grouper, Stars of the Lid

Andrew Caroll

United States

There is no doubt in my mind that there is a thriving jazz community the world over. But for someone who is only familiar with the giants, Andrew Caroll is a breath of fresh air. The bass solo in the latter half of the piece and the piano are truly inspiring.

From The Bogs of Aughiska

Ireland

One half of Schmutz may have an obsession with Ireland, but both halves have an obsession with atmospheric black metal. This is raw, heavy and evil, just the way our Norwegian and Cascadian forebearers before us.
