Like the sudden evening chill that has heralded the changing of the seasons, Lingua Ignota descended upon Urban Spree last night to remind the sold-out crowd that not all good things can last. The core of her art exposes the common thread between seemingly distant methodologies to create something cohesive: layered barroque choruses and bestial screams through clipping distortion; Orthodox church organs and guttural synths. The transfixing display of distilled sorrow was supported by Chicago noise duo, HIDE, and Berlin darkwave/techno staples, Kontravoid. Special thanks to aufnahme + wiedergabe and Swamp Booking for putting this evening together.
