Prepare thy mind to be flayed.
Deep within the confines of a black hole at the far end of the Alpha Metallicus Galaxy, there is a rumble of sound… a guttural growl of a galactic monster so ancient that Father Time himself is said to have played fetch with it as a child. Mere mortals have never heard it and perhaps they never will, but the forsaken beast gave me the tip that if you wanted to hear something like it, you should show up at Zukunft am Ostkreuz on Friday 17 November.
This showcase marks the fuzzy five-year anniversary of Berlin’s own HEADZ UP Shows, your local provider of all things doom, space, and psych. One can expect face-melting riffs, dark lyrics, and an general atmosphere of sludgy, creeping dread.
The venue satisfying your nocturnal activities and beverage affinities is none other than Zukunft am Ostkreuz, a building which has emerged victorious after years of disuse and a particularly nasty fire back in 2009 which left the place out of commission for years. Now, they call themselves home to a brewery, a host of live concerts and an impressive array of film viewings.
Four bands will play in the Theatersaal (capacity 350) and three in Tiefgrund (capacity 100). Headz Up has a reputation for filling up concert halls, so we recommend picking up your tickets beforehand and prepare yourself for a journey towards illumination.
